Why Choose a Wool Rug
Wool is the most considered choice for a handmade rug. The natural lanolin in the fibre repels everyday spills, the structure resists crushing, and the colour holds beautifully even in rooms with strong natural light. A well-made wool rug can last 20 to 30 years with simple care.
Wool is also a natural temperature regulator – warm underfoot in winter, breathable in summer – which is why it has been the floor covering of choice in northern European interiors for centuries.
Where Wool Rugs Work Best
Wool suits almost every room. In living rooms it adds warmth and acoustic softness; in bedrooms it feels luxurious underfoot first thing in the morning; in hallways and dining rooms it stands up to high traffic without showing wear. The only place we would avoid pure wool is fully outdoor or wet spaces.
Caring for a Wool Rug
Vacuum weekly with a brushless head, rotate the rug 180° every six months to even out wear, and blot spills immediately with a dry cloth. Wool naturally resists soiling thanks to its lanolin content, so most marks lift cleanly with cold water. Professional cleaning every 3 to 5 years restores the original lustre.
Custom Bespoke Wool Rugs
Every wool rug is made bespoke in your exact size – from 80×200cm runners up to 300×400cm statement pieces, or fully bespoke. Choose from hand woven flatweaves, cashmere-style soft piles and silk-wool blends. Lead time is typically 8–12 weeks with full tracking and worldwide delivery.
