Why Jute
Jute brings texture without colour competition. It reads neutral and grounded, layers beautifully with patterned rugs on top, and suits the coastal, beach-cottage and Scandinavian-minimal interiors that have come to define modern British design.
Jute also wears in rather than wearing out – the texture softens with use, developing the lived-in character expensive synthetic rugs can never replicate.
Where Jute Works Best
Living rooms and hallways where you want texture and durability; coastal and beach-cottage interiors; bedrooms layered with a softer rug on top; dining rooms (jute hides crumbs and everyday wear). Jute is less suited to formal sitting rooms or bedrooms where you want a soft underfoot experience.
Caring for a Jute Rug
Vacuum weekly with a brushless head. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth (avoid water on jute – it can mark). For heavy stains, professional cleaning is recommended. With normal use, a quality jute rug lasts many years.
